Lake Compounce Amusement Park is located in Bristol, CT and is “America’s Oldest Amusement Park”. It’s got a great water park – perhaps its most popular area - several roller coasters, Down-Time, a beautiful, refurbished Merry-Go-Round, a bungee-cord “ride”, water rides and many other rides, a kids theme park, shows, as well as many games and eateries across the park. It’s a small park compared to the mega-parks like 6 Flags, and that’s why lots of us really enjoy it – it’s smaller, more intimate and has a great staff. You can also find signs and information about the land and the Native Americans in and around the buildings throughout the theme park.

I am very happy to announce that for the second year in a row Lake Compounce will carry two flavors of my giant, single serve cookies in their eateries across the park. This is one of the ways in which they acknowledge and cater to people with celiac disease, food allergies and food intolerances. They also offer salads and other foods for people who cannot eat “regular” food. All of the soft drinks are free with regular admission and there are lots of drinking stations throughout the park.

I am impressed by the food handler’s training that is mandatory for all employees handling food at Lake Compounce. Last year they asked me if I would be interested and willing to participate in their training program, providing their staff with an overview of food allergies since I myself have multiple food allergies, my company is all about food allergies and restrictions and I have a background in corporate training. I conducted this training last year and again this year.

Lake Compounce is located in the town of Bristol, CT, right near ESPN. You will pass by the ESPN headquarters and their huge satellite dishes on your way to the park, as well as the Otis Elevator testing building, which you can’t help seeing on your way into the park. Lake Compounce opens on Memorial Day weekend. It’s worth the trip, and you can feel comfortable that they have food and drinks available for everyone!

What a great idea! Send in your recipes and I’ll post them to share with others!
